Second semester students elected to support Safe Haven Shelter for Youth which was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1995. The homes provide a unique community based service to youth in transition from metro, suburban and rural counties in the Twin Cities and focus on reunification with families whenever possible. The goal of the program is to help youth increase their self esteem and confidence, complete educational goals, save money, learn independent living skills and transition to a safe, permanent independent living situation.
The homes are maintained in Prior Lake and Burnsville. The needs for supplies for both homes are listed below.
Students collected new items from March 2 through March 26, 2009 which included twin size bed-in-a-bags; pillows; towels (bath, hand and washcloths); kitchen towels and cloths; household cleaning supplies; laundry supplies and floor lamps.
