Medicare To Cover Obesity Counseling

CMS recently announced that it will cover obesity screenings and intensive behavior counseling which is a benefit that more than 30% of the population may qualify for. Patients with a BMI of 30 or more quality for in-person behavioral therapy for one month, with visits every 2 weeks for 5 additional months. Patients who fail to lose weight have the option to be re-evaluated one year after their initial consultation date. The plan opens doors for patients to be healthier and more educated on the effects of their lifestyle choices.
