Sex Trafficking in the Twin Cities • Denim Day

Dakota County Technical College is recognizing Sexual Assault Prevention Awareness Month with two events. Sex Trafficking in the Twin Cities, a presentation by Sergeant Grant Snyder, Minneapolis Police Department, takes place Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from noon till 1 p.m. in Room 2-601 on the college’s main campus in Rosemount, Minnesota. Denim Day is an all-day event taking place campus-wide Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Sergeant Grant Snyder, Minneapolis Police Department, presents on sex trafficking in the Twin Cities. Sgt. Snyder will explain how Super Bowl LII affected that criminal enterprise while sharing tips on how community members can help recognize and prevent sex trafficking. Sgt. Snyder has been investigating sex and human trafficking crimes since 2000. During that period, he has saved countless women and teenage girls after they were drawn into the sex trade.

Denim Day is symbolic day to support survivors and victims, raise awareness, and counter misconceptions about sexual assault/violence. By wearing jeans on April 25, you are making a visible statement to support the message: “There is no excuse and never an invitation to rape.” And, as a member of the DCTC community, you will not tolerate any form of sexual harassment and/or misconduct.
