Painting and Parties…Parkas and Paper. Teach Preschool also found a book entitled Pinecones and Penguins. I’m highlighting her post because it’s an example of taking a book and creating multiple extension activities for the children, all built around that book. Think about the various areas of development and plan activities to support them (creativity/imagination, math, science, fine motor, etc.)
Perhaps you’d like to locate this book at your local library and create your own extension activities. Consider taking a treasured (or new) book and providing extension activities that meet the developmental needs of the children in your care. Try something new…maybe even something a little unconventional (like pine cone paint brushes!) Don’t be afraid to try new things- be inspired in 2013. I would enjoy hearing about your book extension adventures! Email me or comment below.
