National Child Life Conference 2012
I’m at the Child Life Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. this weekend. You can follow updates on Twitter. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enhance my knowledge about the skills and techniques in the field, as well as network with other child life professionals. A highlight for me this year is that I will be presenting at the conference! (today, May 26th, from 4:30-6pm)
Title: Using Sign Language to Empower Children and Ease Stress
Summary: Signing can be a window into a child’s mind and personality. This session will enable participants to use American Sign Language with children in their care. Attendees will learn how the use of sign language can ease frustration, increase self-esteem, and assist in diagnosing and managing pain, as well as help a child understand the sequence of a procedure.
I’m very excited and honored to be able to share this information with others. I thought I’d share a bit with you too since you can’t be at the conference. Click to access —> Basic Signs
