Local Volunteer Opportunities

A student in our ECYD program is helping with the Beyond Imagination event at Kennedy Elementary in Hastings and is wondering if any DCTC ECYD students may want to volunteer for it. It’s on Thursday, May 17th from  5-7:30pm. They will need help with set-up earlier that day, all the way to tear down. During the event, they will have different classrooms open with various activities taking place in them! CLICK HERE for more info about this event. Please contact Nick Werner (nick.designdept@gmail.com) if you are able to assist in this event.

There is also another volunteer opportunity on May 19th, for the Primrose Spring Fling Event. This is a wonderful opportunity for a day of fun family activities that will have you laughing and learning while raising donations for a great cause.  Families can enjoy a bounce house, face painting, petting zoo, fun crafts, many carnival games, food and beverages from 4:00 – 7:00.  They will also have a special outdoor concert by the Splatter Sisters at 7:00pm, sponsored by Anchor Bank.

They will also be having a raffle and silent auction to raise money for Gillette’s Children’s Miracle Network and The Primrose Children’s Foundation.  Primrose values social responsibility as a foundation for character development. Giving back to others is a passion shared throughout our organization, and helping children understand generosity continues to be one of our most important initiatives.  Gillette’s Children’s Miracle Networks mission is to meet the special health-care needs of people-primarily children and teens-with disabilities. Their mission is to help those they serve realize greater well-being, independence and enjoyment in life. The Primrose Children’s Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that was created to combine fund raising efforts from individual Primrose Schools. All schools contribute to the Foundation at least once a year by donating a portion of the money raised through their Spring Fling event. The combined funds are then used to make an even greater impact on the lives of young children and families in need. The Foundation has always supported organizations that focus on the needs of young children and their families.

Either or both of these activities would be great events to volunteer at. Remember, you can add it to your resume. It shows dedication to the field and personal character values.
