Voices for Children 2012
This post comes to you directly from the students…
Voices for Young Children Advocacy Day was a day for childcare providers to talk to their legislators. Everyone who came to Voices was asked to sign a petition to restore the absent day cut. The absent day policy wants to cut 25 days of covered absent days to 10.
Our day started o
ff with the children’s activities. We heard a little speech about how moving our bodies helps us to learn. We sang songs, did the 12 month Macarena, and some animal stretching. Next came the speakers- Governor Dayton spoke and declared this week as the week of the young child in MN. We took a short yoga break and finished with a motivational speech from a former contestant of the Biggest Loser TV show. (See more pictures below)
This event was a nice way to support the children in our state, get involved, and represent our college.
Attendees: Samantha Ragsdale, Bridget Sturm, Miranda Neher, Kaci Henry, Priscilla Perez, Jessica Jackson, Melissa Van Dusartz (not pictured)
