My husband and I have recently sponsored a 3 yr. old girl from Democratic Republic of Congo. What does it mean to sponsor a child? She is now a part of our family even though she is thousands of miles away. Using a reputable organization, we’ll send a small amount of money for her each month that will provide her with clothing, schooling, medicine, care and basic needs. Perhaps one day we’ll go to visit her.

For now, her picture is on our fridge and we begin the process of getting to know her. We’ll write her letters, send pictures, and she’ll send us letters back (although right now she’s only 3). We’ve checked out some books from the library to learn more about  her culture, language, and life. Welcome to our family Tolerance!
