Charlotte Kodner

Charlotte Kodner is an office careers instructor in the Executive Assistant and Legal Administrative Assistant programs. She began teaching at DCTC in 1978.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Comprehensive Business Education degree through the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire. This degree gave her the option to either teach or forge into the business world. She did both. She worked as an executive secretary for a firm in Indianapolis, Indiana, and taught at a private junior college there before moving to Minnesota.

While teaching at DCTC, Charlotte earned her M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis on Business Supervision.

During her tenure at DCTC, Charlotte has consistently earned the Golden Apple Award given by Phi Theta Kappa students to faculty and staff recognizing their involvement in the student’s success. In April 2010, the Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA) named Charlotte the Instructor of the Year.

As to her philosophy of education, Charlotte says she views her role as an educator as one where “I have an opportunity to help individuals discover their talents. I help them overcome what some feel are their limitations—and many of those are self-imposed—and guide them to achieve their potential and celebrate their successes.”

Charlotte says one of the best parts of her job is hearing from former students who come back or contact us to share what they are doing and tell us what a difference we have made in their lives.
